Good news—spring is almost here and summer is just around the corner! Whether you’re starting to plan your summer road trip, or if you want to make sure you have a reliable vehicle even for that short commute to work, talk to your trusted mechanic at your auto service center. They will be more than happy to make sure your vehicle is as safe as possible to drive down the road. Schedule an inspection of the various operating systems to determine if there are any hidden problems. The last thing you want is to find yourself looking for an auto center in a strange town!

Your auto service center offers these four tips for safer driving:

  1. Follow the recommended vehicle maintenance schedule: The maintenance schedule includes checking (and replacing as necessary) all the fluids (oil, brake, transmission, radiator, etc.), brakes, belts and hoses, battery and alternator, lights (interior and exterior), and wiper blades.
  2. Condition of tires: Inspect your tires for signs of unusual tread wear and for any cuts in the rubber or sidewalls. If there is considerable damage, it may be time to purchase new tires. Check the inflation pressure. Have a tire rotation about every 5,000 to 6,000 miles, especially if you’re heading out on a long summer road trip. Don’t forget to check the spare!
  3. Clean out your car: Clean the carpets (use all-weather floor mats to protect the carpet), wash windows so there is nothing obstructing your view. If you want to increase your fuel economy, don’t carry too much weight. Remove unnecessary items from the trunk and backseat. But be sure to keep a roadside emergency kit in the trunk (jack, jumper cables, flares, extra blanket, snacks, and water).
  4. Inspect the radiator: The ratio of coolant and water should be adequate for hot temperatures and the hoses in good condition (no cracks or bulges).

Of course, even with a lot of planning, the unexpected could still happen. But, you can head down the road with confidence, trusting your auto center to make sure you are driving as safely as possible!
